Currently, the lower elevation trails like Emigrant, the Animal, the Sawtooth, Jackass, are riding well. We are building and adding demo bikes to our fleet everyday. Though we are trying to update our info constantly, if you don't see what you want feel free to give us a call.

Demo bikes are available by reservation 7-days a week, throughout the riding season. Trail conditions are totally weather dependent, so feel free to call us if you need an update. If you're not familiar with our trails, or need some special expertise, we recommend you contact
Tahoe Mountain Guides. They offer a complete guiding and shuttle service. Please inquire at time of reservation or book a tour.

Bike rentals and demos run $49/day for hardtails, $89/day for carbon full suspension. This is an open to close, business day rate, with pickup at 9:30 and return by 5:30. We also have a 24 hr. rate, as well as multi-day discounts.

We are no longer renting/demoing DH bikes. Please note that Cycle Paths does not allow any of our trail bikes to be ridden at NorthStar Bike Park.  NorthStar's Bike Park, though a fun place, is a DH specific bike park and only DH specific bikes should be ridden there. If you are planning to go, you can rent a DH bike, and a full-face helmet from Northstar. Make sure to take and  wear all your pads and protection.

Bike Types

Enduro-style All Mtn. Trail Bikes

These bikes are ideal for most of the rough and tumble trails that the Truckee Tahoe area has to offer. Best suited for  trail riding where climbability is important but descending is where your heart is. These 6-7” travel trail bikes come equipped with all the features of an Enduro bike such as lightweight air suspension, dropper post, tubeless 27.5” wheels with aggressive tires, 1X11 and 1X12 drivetrains. Though we don’t allow these bikes to be ridden at Northstar, they are very capable on shuttle runs of the Tahoe Truckee Super D, Tyrolean Downhill, Mills Peak, etc. Also ideal for the aggressive up and down riding the Truckee Tahoe area is famous for like Yogi Bear, Hole in the Ground, the Animal, and the Tahoe and Donner Rim trails. Bikes included in this list are the Rocky Mountain Slayer and Altitude,  the Santa Cruz Bronson, the Juliana Roubion and the Ibis Mojo HD3)

Full Suspension Bike rentals available at $89 per day

Trail Bikes

Best Suited for all purpose trail riding where going up makes you smile as much as descending.
These 5-51/2” travel trail bikes come equipped with a lot of the same features as our Enduro bikes, but just less travel and quicker response geometry. Features typically include air sprung suspension, dropper post, 27.5 or 29” standard and plus size wheels, 1X11 and 1X12 drivetrains. Ideal for everyday rides on the mellow side, such as Sawtooth Ridge, the Commemorative Emigrant Trail, the Great Flume Trail, etc. Bikes included in this list are the Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt, Pipeline and Instinct, Santa Cruz 5010 and Tallboy, the Juliana Furtado and Joplin, and the Ibis Ripley LS and Mojo 3.

Full Suspension Bike rentals available at $89 per day

Hardtail Plus XC

Rugged aluminum frame with suspension fork and plus size tires make these bikes ideal for exploring the many local fireroads as well as gentle singletrack such as the Emigrant trail. They also work well for mobbing around town or cruising the Legacy Trail along the Truckee River. Our favorite is the Rocky Mountain Growler, available in Small thru Extra Large.

Hardtail Plus bikes available at $49 per day.

Fat Bikes

Note: We do not rent our fat bikes during the normal dirt season. There are so many better options in our fleet to make your singletack dirt experience a good one, and the big rubber tires are not that fun on the dirt,  Please give us a call or send an email to bikes@cyclepaths.com for information on availability and trail conditions.

Best suited for snow packed trails, we feature the Rocky Mountain Blizzard. With super fat tires, multi gears and disc brakes, these bikes are the perfect way to get out and ride here in the winter months. There are a variety of machine groomed and people packed trails with close proximity to the shop. We do not offer online reservation on fat bikes, as the snow packed trails need to be in perfect shape and conditions can vary radically due to air temp  and snowfall. Give us a call before your trip to get an updated trail report.
